Jenessa Goodman, AMFT
Jenessa Goodman is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a background in fine art and creativity-focused teaching and coaching. Her career as an artist and teacher enable her to integrate traditional psychotherapeutic modalities with a holistic approach to growth and healing. Jenessa has experience working with diverse populations and brings a multicultural approach to her practice. She is trained in a variety of modalities, including art therapy, mindfulness, attachment-based therapy, trauma-informed therapy, psychodynamics, play therapy, dream work, EMDR and somatics.
Jenessa’s therapeutic perspective is that of Depth Psychology, a distinctive and soulful approach to therapy influenced by the ideas of Carl Jung. Depth Psychology is a multifaceted and versatile style that blends well with a variety of treatment strategies. This gives her a great deal of flexibility and the ability to work creatively and collaboratively with clients. Jenessa is passionate about supporting others in recovering from adverse life experiences and leading more expansive, fulfilling lives.
After receiving a Bachelor’s degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, Jenessa spent years developing and teaching a proprietary curriculum focused on personal growth through creativity. Her workshops and classes led her to return to graduate school for a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, which she completed at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. Jenessa is trained in Dream Tending, a program developed by Dr. Stephen Aizenstat, the founder of Pacifica. She is also EMDR trained and can be booked specifically for EMDR sessions. Jenessa writes the advice column “Just Ask J”, which is featured on Instagram and Facebook social media platforms. She is also the founder of the Peace Poster Project, a fundraising effort for charitable causes.
