Ben is originally from Mesa, Arizona where he lived until serving a mission for his church in London, England. Through his missionary service, he found himself exposed to many different cultures, religions, and diverse backgrounds. Being open to different and unique people made his passion for psychology and human behavior blossom. When he moved to San Diego, he started a support group for the LGBT community who were conflicted with their sexual orientation and their spiritually. In this group, universal themes of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress were common. Having shared a similar background, he knew he had found his life’s calling.
Ben completed his practicum at Coronado SAFE located on the island of Coronado. During his time there, he grew to find a deep connection and appreciation for the island community. Ben quickly became well versed in the unique challenges that the city faced. He saw teens, adults, couples, and families and provided individual, couple, and family therapy.
Ben’s approach to therapy comes from the understanding that life should always be lived in beauty. Beauty in a not just a physical entity, but an outlook on life that bleeds into how we act, connect, and relate to the world around us. Sometimes, life’s obstacles can prevent us from seeing that view. Through treatment, we can again regain that vision, set and define new goals, and implement positive behaviors that lead to happier results.
“My goal as a therapist is to help my clients see the beauty that exists in life that is free from negativity, self-doubt, and insecurity. Through therapy, we can work together to move past these false beliefs that stain our outlook of ourselves and the world around us. I invite all to make that crucial first step and make an appointment. I invite you to get back on the path of living a happier, healthier, beautiful life.”
